  Evaporators

The evaporator section is the part of the system, which does the actual cooling of a product.  It is a cold surface of proper size to cool a product to the desired temperature.  There are two general types we build for liquid chilling.

1. A coil or plate type, which sits in a product that is agitated. Example 1 Example 2 Example 3 Example 4

2. A shell-and-tube heat exchanger through which a product is pumped.  The shell and tube heat exchanger is further subdivided into two classes:  DX (direct expansion) heat exchangers, Example 1 Example 2 Example 3 Example 4 Example 5 Example 6 Example 7 and flooded heat exchanger units Example 1 Example 2 Example 3 Example 4.

For gas chilling and drying applications, either a finned coil (similar to an air cooled condenser), or a shell-and-tube heat exchanger can be used.  The type of gas to be cooled and its pressure may restrict the choice.
